Ian Hall the local voice for Axminster at County Hall.
Born and bred Ian has Axminster in his veins. Such is his love of the town Ian has never considered moving away, married local girl Maria and has raised his own children here.
Ian says “Axminster has a great future, but while taking strides forward lets not forget its history and the principles the town was founded on and grown up with. Axminster is a name known around the world because of the carpets created here”. “We should be proud of our heritage and not be afraid of the future”.
Keeping the public informed: Ian has worked tirelessly to keep everyone informed by using Social Media platforms. Ian feels this has been particularly useful during the Covid pandemic. “I have worked with other bodies to ensure residents are updated on all aspects of Health and Financial Support”. Ian was instrumental in bringing about Councillors having to undertake a DBS check giving Devon communities confidence that Councillors are appropriate.
Ian feels it has been a privilege to work on your behalf, giving the residents of Axminster and its surrounding villages more of a on things that are important to you. Road Safety is an issue filling Ian’s email inbox. He has worked on a number of projects with the emphasis on road safety and has supported the installation of VAS signs at a number of locations by using his Locality Budget.
When allocating funds from his Locality Budget to …….. Ian will always ensure local communities derive the most benefit. Projects he has supported include: Totally Locally – funding for a website to promote local independent shops. Axminster Job Club – funding towards day to day running costs. TRIP – Community transport, essential in rural Devon to assist those with transport to essential services.
