Upper Culm By-Election 2021

James Bartlett - Upper Culm - 17th June

Following the recent passing of Upper Culm District Councillor Glanmor Hughes, Tiverton and Honiton Conservative Association are proud to announce their candidate for the upcoming by-election.  Upper Culm born and bred James Bartlett is following in his late grandfather’s footsteps and putting himself forward as a candidate for the area he knows so well.  “I am excited to have the opportunity to continue his legacy and excellent work”, says James.

Local farmer, husband and father James is ideally placed to understand the issues faced by the residents of Upper Culm.  He farms and lives in Sampford Arundel, his children attend Culmstock School, James is often encountered with similar issues rural businesses and families face; poor broadband connection, local theft and the constant road safety issues prevalent in the villages and country lanes.

James looks forward to meeting with the constituents of the ward during the election campaign.

Neil Parish says “I am delighted James Bartlett has been selected as the Conservative candidate for the Upper Culm ward in the upcoming MDDC by-election - continuing the sterling work of his dearly missed grandfather, Glanmor Hughes.  As a true Devonian and local dairy farmer, James understands the issues that matter most to our rural community.  His enthusiasm and local knowledge will be invaluable as we work together to overcome the challenges of the pandemic and deliver for the residents of the Culm Valley”

Gillian Evans, Association Chairman reports “we are delighted to have James join us.  He will be a valuable asset to the Conservative Team in the Culm Valley”.
